The following program will destroy all data that resides on your hard drive.
IDE_INIT.EXE
For Maxtor 7000AT Series Drives:
To proceed TYPE "IDE_INIT 1" for drive 1 or C:
"DO NOT TYPE" "IDE_INIT 2" for drive 2
WARNING! This program will not initialize drive two, but instead default
back to the first drive.
QUICK SOLUTION: ONLY INITIALIZE ONE DRIVE AT A TIME, THIS METHOD
WILL ENSURE THAT THE PROPER DRIVE IS ACTED ON.
***NOTE: When the first screen of the program comes up, the
display will indicate the BASE and CURRENT GEOMETRY.
For some MAXTOR drives the CURRENT GEOMETRY will be
filled in with 00, 00. Please ignore this paramater
but instead look at the BASE GEOMETRY, which will
indicate the cylds, hds, sectors. These values should
closely resembly the CMOS settings. Except for the CYLDS
which may be off by one cylinder count. Still go ahead
and initialize the drive. This is a common occurance
with this version of software.
***NOTE: IDE_INIT is not a lowlevel format but instead an intializing
program. This program will write zeros (00) to every byte on
the disk media. This program WILL NOT find defective spots and
write them to a defect map.
